Blue Cheese Smokies

With two kind of onions and a garlic toast bun!

I don't often eat hot dogs, but when I do, I try to knock them out of the park! I think this did it! I was actually laughing to myself while stacking this all up and honestly it was super tasty.

I started with the bun. A plain bun is boring, but what if it was garlic toast? Giddy up!

I sprayed the bun with avocado oil and dusted with garlic powder and placed it cut side down on a hot frying pan.

I also love a good smoky and there is a relatively local farm to me named Gelderman's who raises pork naturally and makes a very flavourful sausage. They are sold in Save on Food's but I also enjoy going straight to the source and purchase directly from their farm. I BBQ'd these up.

Have you ever had a blooming onion? I have and they are a delectable treat. I was having a craving for them but I also did not want to invest in all the oil required to make a full blooming onion when you have to submerge them completely in oil. So.... I figured I would just batter some onions for this perfect dog!

The coating was simply flour, paprika and garlic powder. The onions themselves allowed for the coating to stick. I initially pan fried these to get the coating golden brown, but to cut down on the oil I also baked them so the onions softened as well. They were cooked at 325 degrees for about 15-20 minutes.

Now to build my epic blue cheese dog! I cut up some blue cheese, some raw white onion, my bloomin' onion pieces and franks red hot sauce. I closed this up and rolled up my sleeves!
