Is this Dog Food or Tacos??

In fact I could have made both! This both looked and smelled delicious enough to eat for a human meal!

I have made a ton of different varieties of meals for my dog, all of which are technically edible by people, may even taste good if you enjoy liver or chicken hearts! This recipe however took the cake for most "like" a meal I might eat with him!

I try to get reasonably priced meats when I am using them to make dog food. I found these chicken breasts on sale for $15 which was right up my alley for cost... I bought a few of them to freeze for later.

I chose to boil them to get the soft consistency required to shred the chicken easily!

I used my claws which sped up the process. We have these for when we cook pulled pork and they blast through a large piece of meat effortlessly. For chicken two forks will work well also but if you like to cook, investing in the claw would not be a waste of your money.

I always get a kick out of how Finnegan seems to know when I am cooking his food......

I chose to use the white fleshed yams for this and placed three medium sized in the microwave after puncturing all over with a fork to avoid explosions! I typically start with 6 minutes check it and flip and likely you will need another 6 minutes at least to get to a softness where as you push on it, it feels like it will "mash".

Green beans are an excellent carb and fibre source for dogs, and include several vitamins and minerals. While I am not a vet or nutritionist, my goal with each meal is to provide protein, carbs and fibre in an appropriate ratio and over the course of the week with meal variety, he will get everything that he needs!

First I peeled the skin off the yams and mashed them into the shredded chicken. Then I added the green beans.... and honestly that was it for this meal!

I choose to vacuum seal my dog food into single serve portions, date them and place them in the freezer. Over time I have created an amazing variety, that when I keep up on making one meal a week, replenishes itself consistently.

I hope your furry family members enjoy this!
