It's Beginning to Taste A lot Like Christmas....Pup Style!

Xmas Dinner for my Pup! Another great meal to round out his recipes!

Who doesn't like Christmas dinner... its comforting and delicious and the type of meal we can taste in our minds when someone mention Christmas! Now My pup only being born in October 2019 was too little to get Christmas and I certainly did not give him some of ours that young... but now that he is older and I have figured out how to balance human food to meet my dogs dietary needs... I think sharing the deliciousness of Christmas is appropriate!.

Clearly this meal has a base of mashed potatoes and turkey... why wouldn't it and to top it off, it includes a dog safe gravy and even cranberries! Here's how we start.

Boil potatoes in water, while cooking the ground turkey in a frying pan until brown and cooked throughout.

The lean ground turkey is great for not adding additional fat but for balanced protein for dogs, this meal plan includes cooked chicken hearts.

I boiled the chicken hearts in a covered pan with water and then emulsified the hearts to a pate consistency in my #Ninja food processor.

once cooked place all the ingredients together and add frozen peas and corn!

Now for the gravy. I used Organic chicken broth and arrowroot starch, which is completely safe for dogs and brought them to a boil to thicken into the gravy.

And then mix all together with soaked dried cranberries... Merry Christmas!

The Recipe:

2 pounds of Ground Turkey

1 pound chicken hearts

6 small potatoes

1/4 cup corn

1/4 cup peas

1/8 cup of soaked cranberries

1 cup chicken broth

1/4 cup arrow root starch.

Boil the peeled potatoes in water until they are soft and mash-able.

At the same time cook the ground turkey in a pan until fully cooked and set aside.

Place chicken hearts in a pot or pan on the stove. Cook in water and cover with a lid until fully cooked.

Place cooked chicken hearts with some of the water in a food processor and emulsify to a pate like consistency.

Mash the potatoes adding some water if required to make smooth.

layer the peas, corn and cranberries on top of the turkey, hearts, and mash potatoes, and mix well.

Place the chicken stock in a sauce pan and heat to a boil. Gradually add the arrow root starch while stirring and monitor the heat so that in just thickens to a gravy like consistency and remove from the heat source.

Mix into the meat and vegetables and blend well!

This made 9 individual portions
