The "You Made it To Friday!" Blackberry Earl Grey Cocktail

Seriously delicious! And has an equal vibe for the cooler comfort drink days as it does for the let's hit a patio (Oh wait we can't) soon to be summer days!

I like to research fun drinks, and I was seeing lots with Earl Grey Tea lately! Some with Gin, others with Bourbon. But can I let you in on a secret? When I became drinking age ;) or possibly sooner, I really liked Rye Whiskey! For some reason, the thought of mixing Earl Grey Tea with booze, made me feel like these flavours would pair nicely.... It was my Friday off work and a reasonable hour for an afternoon cocktail... lets give it a go! It was an abnormal first times a charm, kinda experiment! but I'll fill you in on how to recreate it!

I started making a simple syrup. Because I enjoy organic when I can, I tried to make this with organic coconut sugar and water 1 cup to 1 cup. I mixed on medium heat on the stove until it both incorporated and thickened up slightly to a syrup! Still sporting my friends homemade bracelets! Give me a shout out if you think I should offer them up for sale? They are beautiful and on trend right now... I wear them constantly!

With syrup made, I went for my lineup of liquids! I had previously brewed some "strong" Earl Grey tea which was now cold and grabbed my Rye! I also decided to pair this with blackberries. Because of this, I also decided to bring Chambord raspberry liqueur to the party; as I felt it also complimented the blackberries.

To get the full flavour from the blackberries I chose to muddle them to extract the juices!

I placed 2 shots of rye, 1 shot of Chambord into the shaker with ice. I placed 1 Tbsp of crushed blackberries and 1 Tbsp of simple syrup and 1 cup of Earl Grey tea in as well and shook to blend and cool with the ice. I chose to not fully strain this drink allowing some of the blackberries to make their way in. I skewered some blackberries for a garnish and it was tasty right from the start! I hope you try it! It's been a long week hasn't it?
