The "You Made it To Friday" Kentucky Mule

This is like a Moscow Mule but with Bourbon and Charred Limes. A refreshing drink to ring in the weekend!

Ahhhhh we all did it! and Friday couldn't have come sooner... am I right? It's a nice evening in my neck of the woods so this feels like a drink to take out to the yard or your deck and sit and relax with. Maybe even invite a friend or two, social distanced of course! Shall we start!

I wanted to do this with charred limes... firstly they look cool and second cooking a lime brings out a flavour... this was the perfect garnish and the fresh squeeze of lime to make the flavour! I heated up the grill and once hot cooked these ensuring I only flipped once to maintain the char lines!

Next I got started on the drink. I would prefer to not drink my calories for the day and that is why I love Zevia products. Zero sugar or calories, so all I have to worry about is the booze! After all its almost summer and we ladies want to sport one of these out in public with confidence... don't we? They have some cute swim suites and we are forecasted so have some semblance of a summer post covid.... hopefully

This drink could not be simpler... it's just ginger beer, bourbon and fresh squeezed lime. The muddled mint made this extra refreshing along with the burnt lime flavouring, but neither are essential to enjoy this!

I've talked about my garden before, and I love that I can literally walk outside and gather what I need for a dish or drink. I have fresh mint growing and this was a perfect use for it!

I simply muddled some mint to extract the juices and flavours, placed it in the glass on top of some ice, and layered more ice on top. I added in one oz of bourbon and allowed this to sit so the mint and bourbon fused nicely.... maybe 5 minutes or else it's torture!

I then cracked the can of ginger beer and poured over top! Added in a generous squeeze of lime and stirred quickly and served with skewered charred limes! Still wearing a cute bracelet... just sayin'
