Treat Night Salmon - Dog Food

An even bigger treat, than the fact I make all of his food! #spoiled

So every once and a while, I feel like tossing Finnegan up something special. On this day he had just had his first hair cut! Obviously a challenge with Social Distancing, there was no staying with him to ensure he settled in! That said my "new" groomer at Pineapple Paws Spa in South Surrey BC worked their magic and he was all kisses at the conclusion. And they did a great job.... check them out on Facebook. Isn't he handsome? Check out that leash too! Very heavy duty and durable! With a bungy handle to spare your back, if you have a "puller". These will be a give away soon prior to going up for sale!

None the less.... he had a "day" and my love language is acts of service... and well cooking!! So I made him something healthy and delicious.

I started with two small fillets of pink salmon. I steamed them in a shallow pan of water, covered, on the stove. I cooked these to slightly underdone for a human. (cooked on the outside, a bit "sashimi like" on the inside *this was not sushi grade fish. I had a left over hard boiled egg from breakfast, so I sliced that up for him as well!

I've talked a few times about my urban back yard garden, and how I enjoy growing as much of my own food as my yard allows. I left my kale to overwinter this year and it made it! so I went out and plucked some leaves for this meal as well!

Finnegan loves raw carrots, so adding some of these was an obvious choice, along with a cored apple.... also a fav for him.

I simply layered these in his bowl, slightly breaking up the salmon, creating small leaves of the kale, but otherwise left the apple quartered and carrot sticks as is for the fun of it! Confident it was a hit!

The Recipe: (again please do your own research as to the nutritional requirements for your own dog as well as calorie needs for their weight and age, before embarking on making your own food.)

2 small pink salmon fillets

1 large hard boiled egg

8 small catrrot sticks

1 cup of kale

1 small apple, cored and quartered.
